Rockwell Automation tied Plex QMS to FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI through an API-first integration announced August 11 and still rolling through late August coverage. Camera streams that once lived in a vision silo now write anomaly results into quality records with serialization and inspection history attached.
Rockwell’s own framing is blunt: traditional visual inspection tops out around 80% effective and often leaves no durable history. Wiring VisionAI into Plex turns pass/fail frames into auditable quality events manufacturers can trend, escalate, and prove to customers. The same platform push includes AI authoring for digital work instructions from CAD assets and natural-language agents on operational dashboards.
That shop-floor move lands eleven days before a bigger calendar mark. LRQA and ISO/TC 176 confirm ISO 9001:2026 publishes September 16, 2026. It is a publication date, not a compliance cliff: ISO 9001:2015 certificates stay valid through a transition window expected to run about three years, with IAF MD 26 guidance already circulating for certification bodies.
The revision keeps Plan-Do-Check-Act and risk-based thinking. What tightens is evidence: quality culture and ethical behaviour under leadership, clearer separation of risks from opportunities, stronger change control from decision to verified execution, and climate change still treated as organisational context. Auditors will ask for trails, not slogans.
Siemens is pushing the same direction from another door: Opcenter X Quality 2607 expands standards-aligned SPC, bulk nonconformance handling, and an Opcenter Copilot docs assistant, with tighter handoff from Teamcenter Quality inspection plans to the floor. Vision into the QMS and SPC that operators can actually run are converging on one demand.
For QMS inside N23D, the lesson is the same as the digital thread pitch: inspection results, CAPA, change, and certificate evidence have to live on one auditable memory, not a vision app plus a shared drive. Cameras and ISO 9001:2026 both punish disconnected quality. Keep the record connected, and AI inspection becomes proof; keep it siloed, and you get prettier screenshots of the same gaps.
